Are your tanks DOT approved? Do they need to be?

Asked by: Anonymous
The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) regulates the transportation of combustible liquids in these types of tanks only when the volume exceeds 120 gallons. As the capacity in all of our transfer tanks is less than 120 gallons, they do not have to be DOT approved. There can be cases where local ordinances will regulate these tanks and for that we encourage the user to contact their local Fire Marshall for details.

Can you use the eyes as picking points to hoist the unit with a crane when it is full of diesel?

Asked by: Chris
If the tanks is filled with fuel, we strongly advise against it for safety purposes. If the tank is empty, it can be hoisted but it should not be left hanging for a long time. The two loops for the transfer tank were designed so that the transfer tanks can be hoisted into trucks - not for heavy duty purposes. AT ALL TIMES TRANSFER TANK SHOULD BE EMPTY WHEN TRANSFERING FROM VEHICLE TO VEHICLE.
