I purchased this floor mat, and it has a very bad chemical smell which is making it impossible for me to use it.

Any suggestions on how to rid the mats of the chemical smell? I have never had any previous problem with floor mats smelling like this. I have tried cleaning it with soap and water and then soaking it in a vinegar solution for several hours. I have also been baking it in the sun on my driveway for several days. So far, the smell is not dissipating. Thanks!

The mats do out gas and can smell for 3-4 weeks with the majority of the odor dissipating after 4 weeks or so. I would guess this mat was "fresh" when it was cut and boxed...meaning the sheet was fresh off the line. Many times the rubber mats sit for 2-3 weeks (out gases at the factory) before its final cut, but not always. Unfortunately there is no process that can expedite the out gas process and/or make it smell better.

van mat

do you have to put a hard substrate down before the rubber mat can go in, I'm worried the mat may not hold up in between the ridges on the floor.

Since most vans come without carpeting, the 89011 floor mat is generally installed directly on the bare metal van floor. The floor mat can be installed over low pile automotive grade carpet if it appears safe to do so. SAFETY NOTE: bulkheads, shelving and storage units must have solid metal to metal contact when installed in the vehicle, so cut appropriately sized clearance holes for the aluminum spacers included in the mounting kits. Soft materials such as carpeting or the floor mat will compress over time and you don’t want the mounting hardware to loosen when that happens.

will this fit a 2014 Ram Promaster 3500 159" WB?

Asked by: Anonymous
The 89023 will fit an extended 159" Promaster. If it is not an extended 159" then you would need the 89022.
