Safe loading limit?

Industrial contractor that carries rigid pipe, is there a safe loading limit? 100 lbs? 200 lbs? 300 lbs?

There is no published duty rating on the 237 conduit carrier. When there is no published duty rating for a product, we fall back on a “reasonable use” doctrine which is basically that the product should be used in a reasonable manner for the purpose in which it was manufactured. In this case, this carrier is made to haul electrical conduit when it is mounted to a roof rack. When you are talking about capacity of a #237 you also need to consider the capacity of the roof rack it is mounted to and the capacity of the vehicle the roof rack is mounted to as these will likely be limiting factors for what you can safely haul in the carrier. We would certainly also recommend that the #237 be mounted to a roof rack with at least three cross members so the carrier is supported from underneath at its midpoint. If you think about a worse-case scenario, a #237 loaded to its capacity volume-wise with ½” steel conduit, you’d be looking at about 350 pounds inside the carrier which is most likely going to exceed the capacity of the roof rack if not the van.
