WEATHER GUARD Vehicle Solutions Has Been Upgraded

NOTICE: On Friday, January 12, 2007 the WEATHER GUARD Product Line upgraded its VEHICLE SOLUTIONS to Version 2.0. If you ran the program prior to January 12, and are having difficulty running it now, please remove the old installation of the WGVS by doing the following:

  • In the Internet Explorer menu bar, go to Tools - Internet Options.
  • For IE6: On the General tab, Temporary Internet Files subsection, press the Settings button.
  • For IE7: On the General tab, Browsing History subsection, press the Settings button.
  • Press the View Objects button.
  • Delete the WEATHER GUARD® Vehicle Solutions™ Control file.
  • Launch the WEATHER GUARD Vehicle Solutions Tool.

System Requirements

You will be required to download a small file before using WEATHER GUARD® VEHICLE SOLUTIONS™ Software (WGVS). WGVS is compatible with Win98 and above, as well as Internet Explorer 5.0 and above. WGVS will not run on Macintosh or with Netscape.

Select Van Type

Before you design your customized van package, you must first select the Make, Model, Wheel Base and Year of your van. This helps ensure proper fitting and product selection.

  • A Select your Make: Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, or Dodge
  • B Select your Model: Ford Econoline, Chevrolet Express or Astro, GMC Savana or Safari, Dodge Ram or Sprinter.
  • C Select your Wheel Base: such as Standard, Extended, Short, or 158".
  • D Select your Model Year: 1999 to 2005
  • E Click "OK": WEATHER GUARD VEHICLE SOLUTIONS loads the selected van.


Overview

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the visual parts of the program.

  • A Toolbar: New, Open, Save, Save As, Delete, Undo, Redo, Help, and About.
  • B 3D Titlebar: Reset View, Vehicle Description, Design Weight, 3D Help.
  • C 3D View: Interactive photorealistic rendering of your van design.
  • D Tab Selector: Click on the tabs to select catalogs.
  • E Catalog Area: Van Zone Selector, Product Folders, Icons and Descriptions.


Toolbar

Toolbar Buttons

  • F Undo: Clicking this will undo the last action you performed. Repeated clicking on this button will continue to undo all previous actions.
  • G Redo: Clicking on this will redo the previously undone action.
  • H Help: Opens program help.
  • I About: Displays program information, version number and copyright.


Preferred Customer

Click here to create or log into a Preferred Customer Account. An account is required to open and save designs, to submit technical support requests, and to send your order to a local distributor.


3D View

3D Titlebar

  • A Reset View: Rotates your van to an optimal viewing angle.
  • B Vehicle Description: Displays the selected make, model, wheelbase, and year.
  • C Van Weight: The total weight of products placed in the van.
  • D 3D Help: A quick reference guide for navigating the 3D window.


3D View Space

Displays a photorealistic rendering of your van and included product. See 3D Mouse Controls for instructions on manipulating the 3D View Space.


3D Mouse Controls


To rotate vertically

Click and hold the left mouse button while moving the mouse side to side.

 


To rotate vertically

Click and hold the left mouse button while moving the mouse up and down.

 


To pan horizontally

Click and hold both mouse buttons while moving the mouse side to side.

 


To pan vertically

Click and hold both mouse buttons while moving the mouse up and down.

 


To zoom in and out

Click and hold the right mouse button while moving the mouse up and down.


Tab 1

Choose a Trade
The purpose of Tab 1 is to begin your van package design with a WEATHER GUARD Trade Package. These packages are designed to suit six common trade categories, and they are a fast way to get you started. If you would prefer to start your design from scratch, please advance to Tab 2.

A Choose a Trade (Tab 1)
After selecting Tab 1 from the tab selector, you are presented with options for starting with a complete van equipment package based on trade. The illustration (right) introduces several key user interface concepts and describes how to work inside Tab 1. Please read this section carefully as knowledge gained here transfers to Tab 2 and Tab 3.

B Click a Trade Package
Roll your mouse over any of the icons to preview the trade package

C and read its description

D To equip your van with a complete trade package, click on the desired icon (example: Electrical Service), then advance by clicking on Tab 2 - Change a Module.

 


Tab 2

Change a Module
The purpose of Tab 2 is to customize your van design with WEATHER GUARD Modules. A module is a pre-defined collection of products used in common applications, and are a convenient way to design your van. If you would prefer to place individual accessories on an existing module, please advance to Tab 3.

A Change a Module (Tab 2)
After selecting Tab 2 from the tab selector, you are presented with options for customizing each van zone with the modules provided in the catalog. The illustration (right) introduces several key user interface concepts and describes how to work inside Tab 2.

B Click a Van Zone
Use this navigation tool to customize each of the van's zones. We recommend following the order suggested by the numbering, beginning with the Bulkhead, Zone 1. The current zone has a bold black outline. Upon clicking on a van zone, your 3D View Space is automatically repositioned, and the selected zone's catalog is loaded. Products in other zones remain, but may be temporarily hidden in order to allow you to focus on the current zone.

C Click a Module
Use this area to try out new module ideas. Roll your mouse over any of the icons to read the module description

E Click an icon to place the desired module in currently selected zone.

D Remove Existing Module

If you wish to remove the module in the currently selected zone, simply click the catalog icon.

 


Tab 3

Add Accessories
The purpose of Tab 3 is to customize each van zone with WEATHER GUARD Accessories. If you would like to include additional products not found in the accessories catalog, please advance to Tab 4.

A Add Accessories (Tab 3)
After selecting Tab 3 from the tab selector, you are presented with a catalog of accessories to add to your design. The illustration (right) introduces several key user interface concepts and describes how to work inside Tab 3.

B Click a Van Zone
Use this navigation tool to customize each of the van's zones. We recommend following the order suggested by the numbering, beginning with the Bulkhead, Zone 1. The current zone has a bold black outline. Upon clicking on a van zone, your 3D View Space is automatically repositioned, and the selected zone's catalog is loaded. Products in other zones remain, but may be temporarily hidden in order to allow you to focus on the current zone.

C Click an Accessory
Use this area to select and place individual accessories. Roll your mouse over any of the icons to read the product description.

D To add the desired accessory in the current zone, follow these steps:

  • Begin by clicking the accessory icon.
  • Next, move your mouse into the 3D View Space.
  • As the mouse moves over invalid locations, the corners of the accessory will highlight red.
  • When the mouse moves over a valid location, the corners will highlight green.
  • You may click to place the accessory in any valid location.
  • You may continue placing the currently selected accessory, or click Done Adding E.

Note: Some placements will remove previously placed items or entire modules if they are both attempting to occupy the same space. If you unintentionally remove something, or place the accessory in the wrong location, you can Undo and try again. You may also use Tab 2 at any time to customize the currently selected zone.


Tab 4

Review Order

The purpose of Tab 4 is to review your order by including additional products, generating 3D views, customizing the layout of your design, printing, and sending the design to a local distributor.

A Print Order Preview
Displays a preview of the printed order, and allows you to change page settings. The following page settings are recommended to ensure a successful print:

  • All margins should be set to 1/2" or smaller.
  • Portrait orientation should be selected.
  • Header and footer should be deleted.

B Print Order
Prints the order, based on the current page settings.

C Additional Product
Use this area to select additional WEATHER GUARD Products not displayed in Tab 1, Tab 2, or Tab 3. For example, you may wish to include products for a van other than the one selected.

Note: Additional products do not appear in the 3D View Space.


Parts List

While in Tab 4, you can customize the display of the parts list by clicking on the checkboxes at the top of the Parts List. Please note that the 3D Views and Product Image checkboxes may take some time.

  • 3D Views: Attaches two 3D images to the Parts List for visual reference (recommended).
  • Product Image: Puts a thumbnail image of each model number on each line.
  • Description: Includes a text description of the model number.
  • Item Qty: Includes the count of model numbers in the design.
  • Item Weight: Includes the per model number weight.
  • Total Weight: Includes the total weight of all model numbers.
  • Items per Pkg: Includes the number of items in a package.
  • Package Quantity: Includes the total number of packages ordered.
  • A Products are sorted by Van Zone in the order form.
  • B Additional products can be found at the bottom of your order form.
  • C Additional products may be removed by clicking on the icon to the left of the item.
  • D Complete your van order by sending it to a local distributor.
  • E Ensure that your design weight is within manufacturer's guidelines.
