Little disappointed
Bought this and installed it yesterday. The lid had 3- good size dents in it so I got a discount. Anyway the hardware was so bad, the bolts didn’t match the clamp down bolt holes. It was impossible to tighten down even with wd 40. So I ended up drilling as opposed to going and buying more parts. Very disappointed! Inside the latch, there is a plate on each side, they are both out of place! Just really disappointed in the craftsmanship of this weatherguard. I had a few and there just seems to be something wrong here. Anyway hopefully no one else will have these problems I’ve had.

Junk
Weather gaurd needs to take their name off this before it ruins their reputation. This is essentially the "competetors" box that everyone gets a weather guard to get away from. The lid is flimsy and the lock takes a while to figure out. It should not be called a weather guard.

Easy to steal from
Here is a photo of someone, not me, opening up my locked truck box. It took him 5 seconds. I think he had his own key, or some kind of shaved key. I’ve been told, correct me if I’m wrong, that there aren’t that many different keys, to begin with. For the price paid, I would expect more security.

Disappointing- defender of profit margin series
I have bought several Weathergaurd boxes throughout the years. It is obvious they redesigned and removed everything that use to make them great.

Poorly made
Not a $500.00 box. Weld burns all around the outside of the box and the lower lid cylinder mount on one side wobbles as you move the lid up and down. I bought a Weather Guard thinking it was better built than less expensive brands. Simply not the case.

Zero stars!!!
After recently purchasing two new Chevy 1500 trucks for our fleet, we needed more storage space in them, so turned to the trusted Weatherguard name and their boxes as we've used them in the past on our trucks. We got a normal box and two saddles for each truck, to the tune of a few thousand dollars in total expenses, and what we received was worth a few hundred bucks at best. Let me count the ways why these are the worst purchase we've made and why we'll never buy them again and tell everyone we know to avoid them.
The good:
*Well packaged, no damage upon receiving them.
*They were painted black and the coating was even, hopefully the finish last through the years!?
*Pneumatic shocks work well and the seals seem good.
The bad:
*made from thin metal, which we already dented just with our knee during installation. It's literally like diamond plated tin.
*some of the worst welds I've ever seen in my life, my 7 year old could do better.
*we had to thread and tap all the hardware because the threads aren't the same on the nuts and bolts, so none of the hardware works out of the box.
*there is no vehicle specific mounting, it's simply some clamps on the bed rail and a leg that you have to drill into the bed of your truck.
*none of the boxes are keyed the same, not sure it's even possible.
All in all these are worth a few hundred bucks, not $500+. We will be looking elsewhere moving forward as these are nothing but a let down in so many ways.

Excellent customer service, Best in th business
The company I work for purchases WeatherGuard boxes, and nevr had issues with them. I purchased one and has luck has it, about a year later I had a cracked weld; however their customer service corrected the problem immediately. Nothing is perfect, but they fixed the issue and they stand behind their product. I wont purchase anything else but WeatherGuard.

Which weatherguard box do you recommend for a 1994 ranger XLT with a 7 ft. bed?
Asked by: Carol
For that year, we don't have a recommendation. You could try model 131, but it will have to be measured to see how it fit.
